CHITRAL: In presence of dignitaries belonging to both public and private sectors, a program was organized at AKHSS, Kuragh, in which the importance of parents in the progress of students’ holistic development was highlighted, says a press release.
Besides the parents and various honorable personalities representing different schools, colleges and other organizations, the program was attended by
Mr. Abdul Ghaffar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Chitral, Mr Hanifullah, District Education Officer Chitral, and Brigadier (R) Khush Muhammad Khan, the general manager AKES’P Chitral Region. The president Shia Imami Ismaili Council for Lower Chitral Mr. Muhammad Afzal presided over the program, while DEO Chitral was the chief guest.
Ms. Nawal Shah and Tahira Nadir, twelfth graders, staged the program.
The first session of the program started with the recitation of a few verses from the Glorious Qur’an by Ms. Gushan Ara, student of grade 10. The Holy Naat was presented by students of grade 8, Ms. Annum Anie Subhani and group. Thereafter, the honorable guests were formally welcomed by Ms. Mehwish Rehmat, student of Grade 11.
The next item was a role play “Are we your Priority?” performed by the students of grade 11, where they depicted parents prioritizing their resources for their children. The item was highly appreciated. The honorable Principal was invited to address the audience. In her speech she shared the performance of students in AKU-EB 2014-15 examinations.
Addressing the audience, she expressed her pride saying that since its inception in 2007, the school has by now produced highly talented students, including 11 pursuing their MBBS and 3 engineering at various institutions, and 25 students doing their B.ScN from AKU. Besides, many students are studying in various national and international prestigious institutions across the globe such as Italy, China and Bangladesh.
The next item of the program was Qawali by grade 9 students where students were shown assuring their parents that they have chosen the best school for them. It was followed by a Parody Song by the students of grade 10 in the form of an interactive dialogue between parents and children.
AKES Chitral GM said core purpose of AKES was to contribute towards an improvement to the quality of life of the beneficiary population, through offering quality education that reflects our core values. He shared the history of the Aga Khan Schools, initiated from Gwader in 1905, passing successfully through developmental stages in form of Diamond Jubilee schools in Gilgit-Baltistan up to the present Aga Khan schools in Chitral, serving the people since 1980s.
AKES currently provides educational services to more than 36,000 students through 159 schools across the country. He mentioned about the massive contribution of AKES in increasing female literacy rate (2% in 1980 to about 52% now), advancing the pace of educational development and providing professional leadership in the remote Chitral region. He referred to the steps being taken by AKES’P to further improve quality of education in Chitral.
He appreciated the high academic standards of Aga Khan Higher Secondary School Koragh, reflected through its effective management, highly professional faculty, very good academic results and successful placement of its graduates in the professional institutions, both in the country and abroad. He advised that the parents to get benefit from the quality institutions to better shape the future of their children.
The chief guest appreciated the services of AKES in imparting quality education in various parts of the country. He said that AKES was significantly helping the government in remote areas, and the people should benefit from the educational facilities, as well strengthen the educational institutions.
Certificates were distributed among the students for their outstanding performance in various curricular and co-curricular activities. Shields were conferred upon those students who were high achievers of the AKU-EB including Ms. Hira Naz D/O Mr. Gul Ajab has topped English (91%), Urdu (96%), and Pakistan Studies (96%) in grade 9; Ms. Nazia Naz D/O Mr. Ibrahim Shah got distinction in Biology (97 %) in grade 9; Ms. Azra Fazal D/O Mr. Fazl-e- Khaliq achieved high position in Islamiat (98%) in grade 10; and Ms. Irshad Nihar D/O Mr. Ali Khan showed outstanding result in Physics (98%) in grade 11.
