kuraghThe canal network of whole Kuragh and Moghlandur society of Charun was damaged four days ago but so far no action has been taken to restore the water supply from the Kurgh Gol. People of the area have now started working on the reconstruction of the canals on a self-help basis. Even people are making contributions to purchase explosives to be used to blast stones brought down by the floods. So far, no government or private organization or the army personnel have reached the area to help the people in restoring the water supply to the crops and fruit trees. As a result, the standing crops and trees are likely to dry up. The supply of drinking water to Charun is still not restored and the residents are facing hardship in getting drinking water. Women and children can be seen fetching water from the river which is too much muddy and can cause different diseases among the consumers. A contractor had been given the contract for the rehabilitation of the water supply pipeline of Charun but instead of making it functional, he spent the Rs3 million on the draining of the Charun stream to avoid flooding into the village. ]]>
