GB governor all praise for AKDN

GILGIT: Governor Gilgit-Baltistan Chaudhry Birjees Tahir has said that the government of Pakistan valued the services and contributions rendered by the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) in the country. birjeesHe was speaking to a delegation of the Ismaili Regional Council led by its president retired Col Obaiullah Baig, which called on him here. He said that the AKDN had completed a number of projects in partnership with the government that brought marked improvement in the life of the people of Pakistan, especially the marginalized one in remote areas. The president of the Ismaili Regional Council on the occasion informed the governor about the activities of the AKDN in Gilgit-Baltistan. He also shared with the governor some of the problems being faced by the AKDN. These issues included the non-issuance of the notification about the allotment of a piece of land for the construction of the Aga Khan hospital in the Gilgit city. He also demanded an additional seat in the legislative assembly for the valley of Hunza besides giving representation in the house to the Ismaili community in accordance with their population. He also demanded that appointment of Ismaili judge sin the superior judiciary of Gilgit-Baltistan. The governor on the occasion assured the delegation that he would make efforts to fulfill all their genuine demands.]]>
