Emotions dominating facts: innocence at risk

It is human’s ‘irrelevant emotions’ that make him objurgate or praise certain things by a mere glimpse. Without getting into details, one passes his/her judgments upon a certain issues. When it comes to the people of Chitral, we are well-known for our overwhelmed feelings and sweep over-attachments with whoever we think (not cognize) are right. Not every time emotions guide you to the truth; it misguides you sometimes. Sometimes the truth is obscured. Sometimes it calls for help. Sometimes the people we judge critically are innocents. Sometimes, we get out of time eventually. The recent incident in a village of Drosh in Chitral has shocked every resident of the area is the casualty of two men along with a boy over what has been called a land dispute. The accused were from the same family, who were charged for abetment for the crime. It is indeed a misfortune for the family and the inhabitants of Drosh. Although it sounds so emotional while narrating it, a man and his brother and a young lad were killed brutally; facts? No one bothers to know them. As an individual of Drosh I took my keen interest to know what actually happened. Questions were rising in my mind, how savage a man can get that he will commit such a hideous crime? How can a person act so inhumane? Somehow while trying to understand the facts; I decided not to be biased. I went to the victims’ residence for condolences and then I directly went to ask from local inhabitants of Osiak (the village where it happened). Because people from the village, I supposed, would narrate what actually happened. Although some of them refused to acknowledge anything but majority gave one answer. Here is what they told me that traumatized me. They were the victims who went beyond all the levels while dealing with the issue. They were tenting and camping over the houses of the accused persons for weeks with guns and all means possible, even found taking out the plants and cutting the trees. But at last they went a little too far this time when they enclosed the graveyard (which the accused family donated to the village) with wall and didn’t let the people go there. Some of the farmers (Dehqan in Khowar), of the accused family on a morning 6 am, went there to remove the inconveniences around the graveyard (not the accused persons themselves but sent by them, as narrated by villagers) but there they had to face the late victims. They were already there holding their guns and sitting in the tent. The fact that disappoints everyone is the involvement of a young boy, who was found to be following orders from his father. Anyhow both of the parties argued with each other and got into a bit of quarrel. The victim abruptly took out gun and fatally shot some of the farmers (as narrated). Three of the farmers were brutally shot. One of them was near, who quickly grabbed the gun from a victim and shot him. While the young lad was firing from a distance, he shot him too. Later, police came and completed all the required procedures. While the actual incident is still under investigation, saying anything would be indeed premature. In the end, what I heard was actually opposite to what I supposed. All the condolences with the family who born more losses is considered to be humanistic but getting into judgments untimely is something questionable, not only in this incident but any issue that passes by. I would like to wrap up on Joel Osteen quote: “Your job is not to judge. Your job is not to figure out if someone deserves something. Your job is to lift the fallen, to restore the broken, and to heal the hurting.”  ]]>

“And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his punishment is Hell; he shall abide in it, and Allah will send His wrath on him and curse him and prepare for him a painful chastisement.”(Surah an-Nisā’ 4:93)
“By the Almighty who appointed me with Prophethood, If all the creatures of the heavens and the earth participate in the murder of a Muslim and be pleased upon that, then Allah would surely involve them in punishment and send them all to Hell.” Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
