Hiring of doctors at DHQ hospital welcomed
CHITRAL, Oct 11: Mohmmad Naeem Khan, the president all Chitral Minning Lease Holders Association, has thanked the chief secretary of KPK for taking personal interest in resolving the problems of Chitral. Talking to chitraltoday.net Mr. Khan said the chief secretary, Ghulam Dastgir, had fulfilled the long-standing demands of the people of Chitral by making appointments on vacant positions of doctors at DHQ hospital. He said the people of the district were facing acute problem due to shortage of doctors and had to take the patients to Peshawar and other areas facing immense problems. He said the chief secretary had also directed the officials of the health department to make sure provision of life-saving drugs to patients at DHQ hospital. CHITRAL, Oct 12: The district Chitral is a far-flung and environmentally hardest region of
Pakistan which remains under the grip of severe cold weather for more than six months.
During winter, traveling to and from other parts of the country for medical treatment or for seeing doctors for any other chronic health issue is a serious problem for a poor patient. Usually candidates acquire medical seats in professional colleges of KPK through Chitral’d quota and after becoming doctors they express reluctance to serve in Chitral but prefer to serve in down country
especially in Peshawar. As Chitral is the most remote area of the country, all health facilities should be available in the valley to mitigate suffering of poor patients. People of the area mostly complain that the government is not taking interest in solving their problems. The demand and complaints of the people are justified but it is also to mention here that when the sons of Chitral who got seat in MBBS on Chitral’s quota are not ready to serve in their native area how can we blame the government. Recently, the chief justice of Peshawar high court visied Chitral followed by the visit of the chief secretary. After these visits, some steps have been taken at the high level to solve chronic problems of Chitral relating to health sector on sustainable basis by sending back all doctors belonging to Chitral to serve in this remote and hardest district.
This step is highly appreciated and we the people of Chitral are very grateful to the chief secretary for taking such revolutionary steps for the people of Chitral. It is further requested that all specialists and medical officers belonging to Chitral who are serving in Peshawar and other parts of the province should be sent back to the district. Due to the migration of doctors to other parts of the country and even abroad, a large number of posts are lying vacant in various health units of Chitral, putting a very bad impact on the health of the poor people.
