Local community becomes owner of sanitation project

CHITRAL, May 7: The Chitral Integrated Area Development Programme (CIADP) has completed a number of  schemes, including a sanitation project, in the Dumoon locality of Broze. [caption id="attachment_1664" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="DCO Chitral and others"][/caption] Addressing a ceremony held to hand over the completed sanitation project to local community, programme coordinator Asfandiyar Khan said CIADP had completed different uplift schemes in Dumoon like drinking water supply scheme, upgradation of irrigation channel, flood protection works, assessments and different training programmes for the local people. He said CIADP had spent Rs10.48 million in this remote area on different developmental schemes to facilitate the residents and its beneficiaries numbered more than 569 households.  District Coordination Officer Rahmatullah Wazir, who was chief guest on the occasion, hailed the contributions of CIADP and thanked the Norwegian government and Netherland based organization for donating a huge fund for development of Chitral. He said these projects running with the financial support of Norway and Netherland through CIADP were being strictly monitored and “we assure transparency regarding spending of fund on these projects.” Chairman Broze Integrated Development Programme (BIDP) Engineer Mohammad Ayub said they worked for the development of the entire locality to enhance life standard of common people and provide them basic facilities. He said it is very difficult for any government to solve all problems of local community and to provide them all amenities but civil societies are supporting us in completing developmental works.   Muzafar Hussain Shah Jan, the president of ANP Chitral, and some local elites and leaders also spoke on the occasion.
