Protesters warn to lock C&W offices if reconstruction of Chitral-Mastuj road not started by June 5
CHITRAL, May 2: The Tanzeem Tahafuz Huqooq-e-Awam (organization for the protection of people’s rights) held a protest rally in Chitral against the apathy of the government towards the repair and maintenance of the Chitral-Mastuj road. Led by Sharif Hussain, the protesters took out a rally from the Chew Bridge which after reaching the old PIA Chowk turned into a big public gathering. Speaking on the occasion, Sharif Hussain and other leaders of the Tanzeem, including Rehmat Salam, Al-Haj Sarfaraz Ali Khan, Mohammad Hakim, Abdul Wali Khan and Shuja Uddin regretted that for the last about 20 years not a single penny had been spent on the maintenance of the busy road but every year the officials of the communication and works (C&W) department and their political backers and contractors pocketed millions of rupees in the name of repairing the road. They warned that if repair work on the road was not initiated by June 5, they would lock the offices of the C&W department and kick out all its officials, including the executive engineer. They also criticized the prolonged absence from the office of the executive engineer and said if it was such an unnecessary and redundant department it should be closed for ever. The speakers also called upon the commandant of the Chitral Scouts to rein in on the officials of the C&W department, saying corruption and embezzlement of public funds was equal to committing terrorism. The protesters also chanted slogans in support of Pakistan Army and then dispersed.چترال (بشیر حسین آزاد) چترال بونی روڈ کی انتہائی خستگی اور سی اینڈ ڈبلیوڈیپارٹمنٹ کی مبینہ غفلت کے خلاف تنظیم تحفظ حقوق چترال نے چیوپل سے احتجاجی ریلی نکالی اور پی آئی اے چوک میں جلسہ منعقد کرکے حکومت کی بے حسی کی شدید الفاظ میں مذمت کرتے ہوئے کہاکہ بیس سال پہلے تعمیر کردہ اس مصروف ترین روڈ پر ایک پائی بھی خرچ نہیں ہوئی اور ہرسال مرمت کی مد میں کروڑوں روپے غبن کئے جاتے ہیں جبکہ سڑک کھنڈر میں تبدیل ہوگئی اور حادثات روز کا معمول بن چکے ہیں۔
شریف حسین کی صدارت میں مقررین الحاج سرفراز علی خان ، رحمت سلام، محمد حکیم ، عبدالولی خان، اعجاز احمد ، صفدر علی کاش، شجاع الدین اور دوسروں نے کہا کہ اگر 5جون تک چترال بونی روڈ کی مرمت پر کام شروع نہ کیا گیا تو چترال کے عوام سی اینڈ ڈبلیو ڈیپارٹمنٹ کے دفتر کی تالہ بندی کرکے ایکسئین سمیت دوسرے افسران کو باہر نکال دیں گے۔ انہوں نے سی اینڈ ڈبلیو ڈیپارٹمنٹ میں ایکسئین کی طویل مدت تک غیر حاضری کی شدید مذمت کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ اگر یہ غیر ضروری محکمہ ہے تو اسے مستقل طور پر بند کیا جائے۔ مقررین نے کمانڈنٹ چترال سکاوٹس سے مطالبہ کیا کہ سی اینڈ ڈ بلیو میں کرپشن مافیا افسران کو لگام دے کیونکہ بدعنوانی بھی دہشت گردی کے زمرے میں آتا ہے ۔ اس موقع پر پاک فوج زندہ باد کے فلک شگاف نعرے بھی لگائے گئے۔ بعدمیں جلوس پرامن طور پر منتشر ہوگئے۔
