  1. Khana e Hikmat was banned on request of the strong Ismaili Council in Pakistan, they are a peaceful organization and whole world knows that they are not terrorist at all. Dr. Faqir Muhammad Hunzai is a world famous scholar and teacher at IIS, an institute established by His Highness The Aga Khan.
It’s to interesting to see that people who champion freedom of thought, diversity and pluralism are against difference of opinion within their own sect. When this question is raised, even the most secular become radicals and extremists, and unfortunately that is what they are deep inside in their hearts, radicals with no space for others.

  3. agreed with you, if they not ismaili, what was wrong if they participated in the program, because hunzaies are also present in chitral, they must have to be responsible regrding religious harmony, being a stakeholder they can also participate in such programs, why ismaili council runaway form the program, it was golden opportunity for the council to seperate them from ismailism,

  4. The author has unfortunately, presented some of the points in twisted way. He claims that Hunzai group people have been serving at the Institute of Ismaili Studies (IIS) and thus following the vision of the Imam.

Irrespective of the matter whether Hunzai group is Ismaili or not, IIS is an academic institute, so to work there one does not need to be an Ismaili. The current director of the IIS is not Ismaili, some of the people at the key positions of the IIS are not Ismaili and even most of the scholars there are not Ismaili. Anyone with the required academic skills, irrespective of communal affiliations, can work at the IIS. The members of the Hunzai group invited to Chitral have never been formally affiliated with the IIS and were never in a position of authority, only Faqir Muhammad Hunzai got some assignments from IIS.

I would like to re-emphasis that at the work at the IIS does not require one to be an Ismaili. So the author is totally incorrect here.

As reported in Chitraltoday some years ago, Hunzai groups is banned organization.

  5. I feel that the author has missed that khanae hikmat is a banned organization in pakistan. The Hunzai group is khanae hikmat, thus a banned organization, legally. I wonder how can a university invite people belonging to a banned group for such a programme.

We should respect the law of the land irrespective of our communal associations. In Hunza a programme a few years a go became a battle group and the resultant cases are still going on.
