Working for development of entire Chitral: MNA

He was addressing a gathering of cluster organization representatives and elders from the four villages here on Monday. The MNA said tender for the project costing Rs0.7 million had already been floated while the remaining Rs12 million would be spent under the supervision of the cluster representatives. Besides the replacement of the pylons, the local people demanded establishment of a wheat sale point, supply of water from the river Yarkhun through a syphon and opening of a dispensary in the Dizg village. They also shared their concerns with the MNA about the placement of the four villages under the newly-opened Yarkhun Lasht police station and demanded that the area should again be brought under the jurisdiction of the Mastuj police station to facilitate the residents. The MNA assured the people that though most of the issues were related to the provincial government he would nevertheless try his best to get them resolved. Shahzada Iftikharuddin said his father had inaugurated work on the construction of the Lowari tunnel in 2005 and he himself performed its inauguration with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He said from now onwards Lowari tunnel would not be a political slogan during elections. He said  was the lone MNA elected on the ticket of Musharraf’s APML in the 2013 ejections but had he opted to criticize the government on the floor of the National Assembly like Sheikh Rashid Ahmed of Rawalpindi he would not have been able to bring billions of funds for different projects in Chitral including the Lowari tunnel, Golen Gol hydro power project Torkhow, Booni-Shandur, Garam Chashma and Bumburate roads. Besides, the establishment of a university and natural gas plants in different parts of Chitral was also a result of his tireless efforts and coordination with the federal government. He said Yarkhun was one of the area-wise largest but most backward union councils but the local government Chitral was ignoring it in allocation of funds. Out of the Rs190 million district government budget, the MNA added, Rs30 million have been doled out to the single village of Jughor in Chitral. He said the contractors of Islam always discriminated against the people of this far-off area while he and his father ex-MNA Shahzada Mohiuddin always worked for the development of whole Chitral without any discrimination. He said his father, who remained MNA for five times, district council chairman twice and district nazim once, linked remote arras through the construction of roads and bridges and laid a network of educational institutions across the district. He said besides other projects he also got a survey conducted to provide electricity to different remote areas, including villages up to Yarkhun Lasht, from the Golen Gol powerhouse. The MNA also referred to public complaints about the inclusion of non-deserving people in Benazir Income Support Programme and said a new survey would be conducted so that only genuinely deserving people would be given the monthly charity stipends. He appealed to the people to discourage the inclusion of non-deserving persons in the list otherwise he himself would strike their names. Those who also spoke on the occasion included members district council from Mastuj and Yarkhun Ghulam Mustafa and Mir Sahib Baig, tehsil council member Rehmat Wali, retired teacher Mas Khan, Zulfiqar Ali, Mir Hisamuddin, Ahmed Khan, Rehmat Ali Khan and Navroz Khan.]]>
