BOONI: Scores of women from a remote village of Kosht reached Booni and held a protest against the acute shortage of water in their area.
The protesters from the Gamboor locality of Kosht lower gathered outside the office of assistant commissioner Mastuj at Booni and staged a sit-in for the acceptance of their demand for several hours.
They said for the last over six years their locality consisting of about 30 houses had been without clean drinking water and repeated demands to resolve the issue by the residents fell on deaf ears.
They warned that if the issue was not resolved they would launch a hunger strike.
On the assurance of the AC that he would visit the area within two days to resolve the issue, the protesters dispersed peacefully.–Jamshed Ahmad
