CHITRAL: The district administration and the District Disaster Management Unit (DDMU) organized an awareness walk in Chitral in connection with the National Disaster Awareness Day on Sunday.
The walk was organized on the 12th anniversary of the devastating 2005 earthquake in northern Pakistan, including Azad Kashmir, that left over 70,000 people dead and more than 100,000 others injured.
The participants started the walk from the DC Office Chitral and passed through various city roads to create awareness among the general public about precautionary and preventative measures in case of natural calamities and disasters.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Minhas Uddin, District Disaster Management Officer Fida Ul Karim, Civil Defence Officer Shamsher AlI Khan, civil defence volunteers, members of civil society organisations and students participated in the awareness walk.
The participants also disseminated informative materials among the general public to create awareness.
