Upper Chitral may get power from national grid

The WAPDA chief also promised to look into the possibility of supplying electricity to Upper Chitral from the the national grid. The area of whole Upper Chitral has been without electricity since July 2015 when the Reshun powerhouse was washed away by flash floods. Since then, the area residents have been protesting against non-reconstrction of the facility. The WAPDA chief held out these promises while chairing a meeting held at the DC office on Sunday. The meeting was also attended by MNA Chitral Shahzada Iftikharuddin, MNA Rana Qasim Noon, MNA Mansab Ali Dogar, MNA Rana Hayat Khan (from Punjab), MPA Saleem Khan, District Nazim Maghfirat Shah, Ex MPA Abdul Rehman, Deputy Commissioner Osama Warraich, GM WAPDA and others. The issues of Reshun powerhouse, supply of electricity to Upper Chitral, low voltage in Chitral town and frequent loadshedding in the district were discussed at the meeting. Upgradation of Chitral Town powerhouse and upgradation of electricity supply system to lessen line losses were also discussed. ]]>
