Tunnel to open twice a week
After attending a meeting at Panahkot, Deputy Commissioner Chitral Shahab Hamid Yousafzai said that the issue of the opening of the tunnel was discussed. He said the project director of the Lowari tunnel, Engineer Muhammad Ibrahim, SAMBU officials and the DC upper Dir Muhammad Usman also attended the meeting. The meeting decided that the tunnel would be opened at 1pm till the evening on Tuesday and Friday every week. Besides, first the vehicles going out of Chitral would be allowed entry after which those coming to Chitral from other parts of the country would be given access, he added. He may be noted that the people of Chitral remained stuck on both sides of the tunnel for over 20 hours when it opened once in a week, on Friday, after the closure of the Lowari pass.]]>
It was a sheer negligence on the part of a responsible civil servant posted at Drosh that we suffered a lot at lowari tunnel..no word is enough to condemn why the Assistant commissioner Drosh ordered for all kinds of vehicles to pass through the tunnel at the same time?it caused a road block nd people suffered beyond the limit of human endurance…is it possible that someone may go for inquirey into the mattet?
