Man saved from mob attack after ‘blasphemous remarks’
CHITRAL: A manw as saved from being beaten to death on the charge of blasphemy in the Shahi Masjid of Chitral during Friday prayers.
The man, who is yet to be identified, is alleged to have pushed the imam of the mosque to allow him to speak after Friday prayers, a local present at the site told DawnNews.
Eyewitnesses claimed the man then uttered ‘blasphemous remarks’ amidst the prayer gathering. As worshippers started beating the man, the mosque’s imam, fearing for the man’s life, handed him over to the police. Police took the man to the local police station for his protection.
They said they were trying to ascertain the man’s mental health. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against the man over charges of blasphemy and terrorism, Deputy Commissioner Chitral Shahab Yousafzai told DawnNews. “The situation is under control now,” Yousafzai said, adding that police is investigating the case.
“At the moment, I am not in a position to comment on the mental health of the man,” Yousafzai said. “A team of doctors will file a detail report about his mental health,” he said. Mob reaches police station Soon after the accused was shifted, the mob attacked and broke into the police station amid aerial firing and heavy tear gas shelling from the police.
The firing resulted in power outages nearby as transmission lines were damaged by bullets. The situation remained volatile, police said, while they attempted to cool the mob down and restore peace in the area. The Frontier Constabulary also reached the police station to assist with maintaining law and order, a police official said, adding that “3,000 to 4,000 people” were still present outside the police station.–Published in dawn.com
I have no words to say, I am not a Well educated person who knows a religious law like others. Just an ordinary Chitrali man who believes on Allah ( who has created the the whole universe) and Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa PBUH who is the last prophet of Allah. ALLAH has sent his last prophet to guide us and to educate the human being to make this universe to be a better place where people love each other. Allah Tabarek TAlla has not allowed to anyone to kill any other human being. Allah has said in his Holy book Quran Sharif. The last prophet has forgiven them who insulted and misbehaved with him. The pak Nabi’s life and character is his Sunnat. As a muslim we have to try to follow his sunnat. There is no perfect human being except Muhammad PBUH. As a muslim we have to follow and believe what he has taught us and what he has left for us. The majority of people of Makkah cursed him , humiliated him or blasphemed him, or even tried to kill him, yet he preferred to forgive them and to seek the divine mercy for them. If anyone is true muslim, has to follow his sunnat. Who we are ? If we are muslims, we will have to follow Quran Pak and Nabi’s sunnat. I have no words to say,you all have a better knowledge of Islam and i request to those people who are leading the religious groups, political and ethnic group play a better role to make our chitral a loving nation. My dear Allah almighty has also said in the holy Quaran” no religion other than Islam is perfect” and also “Muhammad SAW is your last messenger” ….. Besides, you have to remembered the first caliph hazrat abubakar RA had killed all those people who committed such type of sin which is the same. I heard yesterday….. If u are defending him then u are definitely not following Islam…. It is compulsory for each and every Muslim wallah hu billaha to kill such people if they have really committed this! Not according to me but according to the Holy Quran and hadith….. If u are a Muslim and real Muslim then think for a while! Thanks
I think this is the badest and hardest kafir on our holy earth of Chitral. If he will not be punished on the bases of Pakistani law,indeed we will suffer a lot of difficulties. I request to Govt of Pakistan if it is really Islamic state then this man must not be forgiven and may be punished before the whole crowd so this situation would not be happened. Then we will be respectable before our Prophet Muhammad s a w w on the day of resurrection.
By killing or beating someone brutally means you will stand respectfully before the Holy Priphet??
I have heard that the accused is mentally unstable. Let’s hope that sanity prevails on behalf of the people who feel offended. Faith is for those who understand, not those who cannot think straight, or take care of themselves. The peaceful people of Chitral should not let their beautiful region’s name be stained forever.
The alleged blasphemer may be an insane person if he has committed blasphemous act in the mosque. No Chitrali Muslim, even a Kalash will ever think committing such a big sin in a religious congregation. The matter is very sensitive and requires proper investigation with patience. Possibility of conspiracy to disrupt the peaceful environment of Chitral can not be overlooked.
