Suicide among the youth, especially girls, has become the most burning issue of our society. They consider it the only easy way to get rid of all their life’s hardness and commotions.
People bear the hardships and do make sacrifices in their working fields so that they can have a better and flourishing life. Birds in the sky, insects in the holes and man on land endeavours hard to protect their lives. Since life is very precious and is a credible gift from Allah Almighty.
But unfortunately, today’s generation in spite of having all life luxuries rather to compete with others, prefers to get rid off everything instantly. Mostly the young girls are found to be covered up by this burning issue. In fear of losing their kids for ever parents now perplexed to be strict with them angrily or in a serious tone on daily affairs at home.
It is to be said that ‘education makes man perfect’ but when we look around mostly the educated people are found to assume suicide a solution for all problems. Education makes a man able to face conflicts, to appreciate life and to be proactive but crucially the educated profoundly verify the above statement wrong by doing suicide. By looking at all these facts can we say that a person not meeting with the objectives of education is deemed to be educated?
Even though, suicide is a burning issue throughout the world but being a Chitrali I would like to focus Chitrali’s the most. Number of suicide cases occurred mostly in Chitral have become exceedingly been discouraged but steps countering this problem never taken up till now. Every Chitrali feels embarrassed and repentant for every new suicide case. They express their regrets over the incidence and also consider it a big peccadillo. It shows that every Chitrali whether man or woman, kid or an adult is no longer pleased with such deplorable cases.
Islam teaches us peace and gives us the strength of tolerance but being a follower of Islam what are we doing? Do we have the ability of tolerance? In spite of being aware of all Islamic views and teachings, do we meet them? If not, then how can we do so?
Everyone should hold close to life with jovialism and pleasure so that we can have the courage to say that ‘Even though if it gives us hundred reasons to cry but show life that we have thousands reasons to smile.’ My keen observation and study of the cases has led me to find causes stand to be responsible for this matter may further need research but few of the major causes are as under:
Lack of co-ordination in family members usually has been found that these tussles and stress kills the courage to live happily and hope of every individual living in that specific house. Some parents believing in old traditions and remaining attach to their guns never give space to their children to take up modern living approach. Thus a misunderstanding develops between parents and children.
Sentimentalism and lack of tolerance also lifts up the young boys and girls towards suicide. Sometimes on very minor issues young people commit unusual decisions like suicide by thinking that the step taken by them will make their close ones to be repentant what they did or said. In annoyance they think it is the revenge they can take from others but unfortunately, not even for a single second they think about their ambitions, dreams and blessings in life.
Since competition appears to be the most challenging and stressing issue going on today, puts pressure on the immature minds of the youth. They found themselves in-between responsibilities, expectations, and wishes so much that they just choose to trace their way out of these perplexities only through suicide.
Failures in examinations switch offs candle of hope in student’s life and gets highly discouraging for them leading to commit suicide. If this issue continues for a longer time than it is possible that people will become accustomed to it and soon people start to assume that suicide likely be the easy solution of all problems and difficulties.
Parents should make understandings with their children from the very grass root level and children should also strive hard to obey their parents and follow the guidance and to meet the objectives of education in true sense. Time demands that every person must build the aptitude of tolerance in his/her life and should understand and accept the troubles rising in everyday life and must learn to appreciate life as part of cyclical life chain.
