SHANDUR (CHITRAL): The world’s popular Shandur festival started in upper Chitral on Saturday, which will continue for three days.
Thousands of spectators, including people from different parts of the country, have reached the venue. On the opening day, the Laspur polo team defeated Ghizer by eight to two goals. In the second, match, Gilgit-Baltistan D team trounced Chitral D by eight to five goals.
Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and Adviser to the chief minister on tourism Abdul Munim Khan were the chief guests on the opening day.
Besides polo, a number of traditional sports and games of both Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan will be played during the event organized by the KP Tourism Development Corporation.
The main event of the festival will be the final match of the Chitral and Gilgit polo team on the concluding day.
