Scouts, police show preparedness to ensure security

CHITRAL: Scouts, police showed preparedness to ensure security in the district.

Led by the commander 143 wing Chitral Scouts Lt. Col Mehmudul Hassan, the security team also visited different polling stations in the garrison town and inspected the security measures.

SDPO Drosh Zafar Ahmed and Captain Tariq were also present. The SDPO briefed the wing commander on the security measures taken for peaceful holding of the local government elections on May 30 and said police personnel had already reached their duty stations.

Talking to the media, Lt. Col Mehmudul Hassan said the security organisations had undertaken all the necessary steps and no one would be allowed to create disturbance. He reiterated that security organisations would ensure the peaceful environment. Col Hassan added that the security march was aimed at making it clear that a proper security mechanism had been put in place.

The CS would be available to support the local police where required. He said no one would be allowed to display any kind of weapon. He said security measures in the area were satisfactory and in the past days at least 35 suspected persons had been deported from the district.

The security staff members at the polling stations were directed to ensure adherence to electoral SOP and not to allow anyone to campaign with 150 yards of the polling station.
