Repeated appeals for reconstruction of broken bridge fall on deaf ears
This bridge at Zhupu connects the upper Yarkhun and the far-off Broghil valleys with other parts of Chitral inhabited by thousands of people. But due to the lack of maintenance since its construction in 1993, the bridge has been in a dilapidated condition. Repeated demands and appeals by local people to reconstruct the bridge have fell on deaf ears. It seems the government authorities and elected representatives never take any genuine public demand seriously and wait for a disaster to happen to swing into action.–Dr Saeed Ahmad, incharge RHC, Mastuj.
