No verbal accord with US in future
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will not have any verbal agreement with the US in future, said Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit during a weekly briefing.
He said the future relations between Pakistan and United States depended on the outcome of the parliamentary process.
The spokesman termed the drone strikes unlawful, unacceptable and damaging.
He said bilateral negotiations would be held with the United States and some of the agreements concluded in the past would be revisited by the parliament. He pointed out that one such agreement about acquisition of Pakistan’s services signed with the United States expired last month.
He said the reports in Bangladesh media about ISI’s interference had no substance.
To a question, Abdul Basit said Pakistan was not supporting any particular group in Afghanistan.
He said talks were underway with the US for the release of five Pakistanis being detained at Guantanamo Bay prison.
