Media not allowed to cover Kalash spring festival

Media persons from different parts of the country had arrived in Chitral for the coverage of the Chilim Jusht festival. But on way to the Kalash valley they were stopped by security forces and told to produce no objection certificates (NIC). They were told that the federal government had made the NOC mandatory for the coverage of the festival. When our correspondent GH Farooqui asked visiting KP minister Mehmood Khan about the issue, he said he condemned the restriction. However, he had no answer when asked why the KP government did not inform the media persons about the ban so that they could gave obtained the NOC. Journalist Kamal A. Jamil told ChitralToday that he had been stopped at a checkpost even though he had an NOC issued by the DC Chitral office. He said the security personnel were asking for a permission issued by the army.]]>

    Army should have imposed itself on dawnleakers. Not on peaceful tourists.

    After long travel we are now in security state and it needs NOC from army for any activity. In near future we will be asked to get NOC for admission of our children in School and treatment of patients at Hospital. Shame on these measures which resulted embarrassment of peaceful people while it brought no improvement in security situation of the country and terrorist attacks are taking place unabated.
