PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Tuesday directed Secretary Energy Naeem Khan to facilitate an early agreement between PEDO and PESCO on Golen Gol hydro project in order to extend electricity to Upper Chitral.
The chief minister said Golen Gol project stands completed and the secretary energy should complete all formalities required for the agreement between PEDO and PESCO.
The people of Upper Chitral have suffered because of the destruction of Reshun hydro power project in floods in 2015. Almost 16 thousand houses suffered because of the floods that washed away the Reshun Hydro Powerhouse creating a electricity crisis in the area.
The chief minister directed to start working on emergency basis, formalize all the formalities and extend electricity from the Golen Gol power project completed. The government had facilitated all the requirements, required for the emergency completion of Golen Gol power project. He directed to complete all formalities on emergency basis for an agreement between PEDO and PESCO to resolve the electricity problems of entire upper Chitral district. Around 16,000 households would be the end beneficiaries of the project, he added.
