CHITRAL, April 8: Whether it is the increasing rate of literacy among women or their desire to opt for medical education, over 80 per cent of candidates who appeared in the written test for admission to the Aga Khan Medical College Karachi here on Sunday were females.
As many as 42 candidates – 35 females and seven males – appeared in the test conducted at the Govt Centennial Model School for Boys here.
Talking to chitraltoday.net, Zahiruddin, Kashif Afham, Haikal Jan, Alveena Ahmad, Ruhy Saleh and Rukhsana Hussaini said they were very pleased that the AKU had conducted the test in Chitral to facilitate the candidates.
They said earlier students from Chitral used to go to Peshawar to appear in the test which created lots of problems for them. They said now it had become very easy for them to reach the Chitral town and appear in the test without any difficulty.
