THQ hospital accused of denying treatment to patient

THQ Garum ChashmaIt may be noted that a few years ago the AKHS entered into an agreement with the KP government and took over the THQ hospital under public-private partnership. The basic aim of the move was to improve healthcare facilities at the hospital. However, since the outsourcing of the health centre, things have not improved rather there have been public complaints against the management of the hospital. A local journalist, who had to visit the hospital at about 8:30pm on Thursday, alleged that the staff of the hospital refused even to check his blood pressure. He said there was no male staff at that time but some female nurses inside the hospital told him that under the policy of the hospital his blood pressure would be checked only after he got a slip from the registration counter. However, the registration counter was closed, he added. The complainant said he contacted the AKHS general manager, Dr Zafar, who told him that there was no such policy. Dr Zafar also told him to meet the doctors i the hospital but when he approached them he was taunted for contacting the GM. He said all this was happening with a patient despite the fact that a board installed outside the building claimed that the hospital was open for emergency service round the clock. The complainant asked the authorities concerned to take action against the staff and improve the service delivery in the hospital.]]>

I also support the news item. I had been there early this month (probably on 7 August) and unfortunately my friend faced problems in his chest and we rushed to the same hospital and was shocked to see the same situation. I also wished to bring the issue in media but some of my local friends said that in such circumstances the hospital staff always threat to transfer themselves from here and this the only reason people are silent.
Now this issue has come to media therefore the concern authorities should seriously look into the matter so that AKHSP sustain its reputation.
