CM announces funds for powerhouses, other projects for Chitral

PESHAWAR, Jan 27: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Tuesday announced provision of sufficient funds for a number of small hydel power stations and other development projects for Chitral. The chief minister also said he was also going to visit Chitral soon and inspect the developmental process there by himself. He said that his government believed in uniform development of the province with judicious use of the developmental funds whereas no discrimination would be made with any part of the province. However, he said that remote and backward areas would be given preference on need basis wherein transparent use of funds would be ensured so that the public money could not go waste or transferred to the pockets of the individuals but purely spent on the welfare of the masses. pti copyHe was talking to eight-member delegation of PTI Chitral led by Bibi Fozia MPA which called on him at the CM Secretariat Peshawar and apprised him of certain problems and demands of the area. The delegation included President PTI Chitral tehsil Haji Rehmat Ghazi, District Vice-President Razeet Billah, Muhammad Qasim, Wazirzada, Nazir Ahmad, Aminul Hassan and Shah Hussain. In response to the demands of the delegation, the chief minister approved giving status of municipal committees to Drosh town and Mastuj, provision of ambulance to the tehsil headquarters hospital Drosh and upgrading it to category C, provision of two buses for female students of Chitral and Drosh, additional funds for Chitral campus of Benazir Bhutto University Sheringal in next ADP, increasing salaries of the staff of Reshun hydel station, re-tendering of the rehabilitation of flood-affected areas, expansion of road from Warijun to Terich, Kosht to Lon, Mastuj and Bamborate to Rombore, black topping of link roads in Chitral town, irrigation channel of Charun-Oveer, water supply schemes of Shotkhar and Torkhow in the new ADP. Similarly, while taking notice of certain complaints he directed the Deputy Commissioner Chitral to conduct a transparent inquiry of deserving people list Sasta Atta and Ghee scheme and inquiry into the millions rupees of embezzlement in water supply schemes of Golen, Drosh, Parwak and Ayun. Pervez Khattak said that Chitral is a far-flung backward district of the province while the provincial govt was taking concrete steps to bring such parts at par with developed areas of the province and provide basic amenities to its people to ameliorate their lot accordingly. However he said lack of resources greatly hinder in our way. He assured more new developmental schemes would be included in the next ADP. He assured resolution of other issues and problems presented by the delegation. The chief minister on a demand said that it was a policy of the provincial govt to strengthen the existing institutions by making available all required facilities instead of constructing and establishing new buildings in health and education sectors. He said that erecting structures and buildings without facilities always gave no benefits to the people except wastage of the public money. Hence he said that his govt was taking solid steps to equip all the existing institutions with latest machineries and facilities while later attention would also be given to setting new buildings and institutions as per need basis. He said that provincial govt was spending 80% of its resources on the ongoing while rest of 20% on the new schemes with the sole aim of continuity of the developmental process. Pervez Khattak said that it was easy to rule and enjoy the govt but difficult to deliver and come up to the expectations of the masses after coming into power. He said that we instead of enjoying the luxuries of the govt and hoodwinking the people by merely lip service, endeavouring to fulfill the needs and expectations of the poor and for this purpose we were working round the clock to deliver accordingly. He said that people were being benefited of the fruits of the measures of the government and they would see and feel more pleasant changes in their surroundings owing to the realistic steps of provincial govt. He asked the party office bearers and assembly members to play dynamic role in selflessly serving the people of their areas. They must personally monitor the developmental process and identify new schemes on need basis in their constituencies to yield tangible results in larger public interests, he remarked.]]>
