Joint efforts urged to eliminate drug peddling

BOONI, Nov 17: An advocacy seminar on drugs addiction was held at Shagram Torkhow by the Central Asia Health System Strengthening (CAHSS), a project of the Aga Khan Health Service Chitral. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERASpeaking on the occasion, Sajjad Zarin presented a brief overview of CAHSS project and objectives of the seminar. Attaullah Jan, the manager briefed the participants about the classification of drugs, history and causes and the impact of drug abuse on family, community, health and education, says a press release. Dr Amir Jawad spoke on the treatment and solution of drugs addicts. He also stressed on behavioral therapies way of treatment rather than medication. The other speakers asked parents and teachers to play their role in rehabilitating such cases. The SHO of police station Torkhow also addressed the seminar and urged the people to help the police control drug peddling. Religious scholars highlighted the ill-effects of drugs addiction on Islamic point of view.
